Another New Jersey City Requires Background Checks for Volunteers

Across the country, cities are requiring that volunteers who work for them go through background checks. The latest city to announce this is requirement is Cedar Grove, NJ. Once information about the sex abuse cases at Penn State and Syracuse came to light, organizations across the country began scrambling for changes in their own policies in order to stay one step ahead of an outraged public. Taking the step to background check all employees of the city as well as volunteers who offer their time for the good of the city, allows a more thorough look at who is around their citizens.
