The City’s Office of Labor Standards Enforcement has issued an English version of the Official Notice of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. It informs applicants and employees of their rights under the ordinance. Employers are required to give applicants and employees a copy of the Notice before making an inquiry about conviction history (either by asking the individual or by a criminal history search). Employers must post the Official Notice in English, Spanish, Chinese, and any language spoken by at least 5% of the employees in the workplace or job site, where it is readily accessible to job applicants and employees.
The Official Notice must be posted at workplaces and job sites where it is readily accessible to job applicants and employees as of August 13, 2014.
